And I see they haven't actually redirected it anywhere (thus far, anyway); so anyone wandering in will just be baffled.
And, hello!

Many thanks for preparing for the moment Tao!

It will be interesting to see if they suddenly decide to bring it back in a few years. They had an SFX forum back in '99/'01 that got canned for financial reasons. It was a much simpler affair back then though.

Now the youth of today are launched onto FB/Twitter/Instagram etc, which is like shouting into the void at times, with added creeps.

The SFX Forum is dead. Long live Offtopica2! Have to admit, got a little lump in my throat when I logged in this afternoon with my iPhone to find the old page still in the cache, but then when reloading the page to update it finding an internal server error. The old girl will be missed.

Its impossible to guess whether this will have an impact on the magazine at all. But I note all the comments are gone under articles.
Postscript: And now we know why the forum was pulled.
Seriously, no bullshit. I just pulled this off their facebook feed. Anyone else know about this?
'IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! A New Direction For Total Film And SFX Online
We're in the process of launching a massive new entertainment portal! SFX.co.uk, TotalFilm.com and GamesRadar.com are teaming up for a new destination for all your film, TV, games, comics and books needs. We wanted to give you plenty of notice. From this November, TotalFilm.com and SFX.co.uk will join up with gaming giant GamesRadar.com to bring you all the up-to-date film and game exclusives, reviews and offers in one place. More details on the site here: bit.ly/1pDPHuL
NB: No changes will happen to SFX magazine or Total Film magazine. You'll still be able to enjoy all our print creations as normal!'
So there you go. People are already asking if there will be a forum. Frankly I'm a little bit annoyed and no I can't put a finger on why. I just am.

Yeah, they've had this up on the SFX website since yesterday, and sent an email newsletter thingy too.

Any word on what this hub site will be?
I can't see myself wanting to visit to be honest, but maybe I'm being obtuse, stick in the mud. After all its a brave new world. I wish them well, I really do. But it doesn't feel like an SFX choice so much as a moneyman boardroom lets cut costs and IT payments choice. We'll see.
Good luck to em. There are a lot of people out there and many to potentially enjoy.

I managed to get one last look in just before 1PM as I was popping out for something to eat. When I came back 20 minutes later it was all gone.
Guess I was wrong about someone logging on with Dave's username to play a prank.

Farewell, SFX Forum. You taught me to be the online person I am today, I'll always be grateful for that.
Shame I couldn't be there for when it finally happened.

Been spending some time online before heading to college for Swedish class, and I really don't know what to do with myself. I've been to Twitter, Farcebook and here, but it just doesn't seem right without visitng the old forum. Even when I wasn't posting at all, I always used to check in on some favourite threads and whatever.

Out of force of habit the first thing I did when I turned on Ruby the laptop this morning was hit the old forum link. The error message was like realising it was gone all over again! Guess I shall have to remove it at some point but the link has been in the same place on my favourites bar for years now!
So farewell old forum and hello new!

Have they disabled the comments facility too?
All articles on the site have 0 comments now & I can't see a way of logging in...
Damn shame they pulled the plug, guess I'll frequent this and see how it goes...

Damn shame they pulled the plug, guess I'll frequent this and see how it goes... They've switched the comments system to Disqus, you can log in to that with Twitter or basefook, but you then have to complete a simple profile. You do get notifications of replies though.

It's all new and exciting but you miss the familiarity of the old place. And all of it's memories.

You know I never get attatched to places, people and things this way. I don't really worry about moving house, changing jobs or people emigrating. I don't even cry at funerals. This feeling of loss and fear of change is something a bit alien to me and feeling it here, over a forum, is very strange
