Karen Gillan at Armageddon in Wellington in July 2015:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM-I-TkC6Zo

When asking a question, a fan says that she loves her.
Yeah I know that feeling.
Fascinating Karen talking about playing Amy as well as her other roles including in Oculus, Guardians of the Galaxy & Selfie (with that certain singing being brought up).
Interesting when she was asked which was scarier the Weeping Angels or the mirror in Oculus.
Also interesting to find out the Thrilling Adventure Hour here.
Very good fun and was glowing viewing just to see Karen.

Karen GIllan has nice tits and she is my wife.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour is a staged production in the style of old time radio that is held monthly at Largo, a Los Angeles nightclub located in the former Coronet Theatre.
Karen Gillan was in one of these plays in 2013 in a play called The Cross-Time Adventures of Colonel Tick-Tock, Mrs. Parker and the Doctaparatorious Paradox.
It is a Doctor Who spoof and since Karen had played companion Amy Pond in Doctor Who she appropriately played the character of the Timekeeper.
This play is available to listen to as a podcast:
http://nerdist.com/thrilling-adventure- ... s-paradox/

Absolutely enjoyable with Karen very funny as the Timekeeper.
Also amusing is the line of Dorothy Parker Smash!

Here are photos of that play including Karen:
queen-gillan.livejournal.com/110616.html

At times I do think of a foursome with Karen, Billie and Jenna.

Guess it'd be too dangerous to show that in the cinema. :longwink:

Identifying Karen Gillan in Doctor Who episodes just by pictures alone:

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-08- ... ren-gillan

I got 98% as I got stumped by Vampires of Venice.

Karen Gillan's best moments as Amy Pond:
www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-11-28/kare ... s-amy-pond

Somehow I do not think that it is a coincidence that this was written on her birthday on November 28.

A few spring to mind : Amy trying seduce the Doctor in Flesh and Stone & her asking for a "snog in the shrubbery" in The Big Bang were brilliantly funny . :-D

Also in The Big Bang, Amy calling back the Doctor by saying "Something Old. Something New. Something Borrowed. Something BLUE!" - her emphasis on the 'Blue' makes me quiver .

On a side note Karen's best moment was running across batter, & then falling on her her arse on The One Show in 2010 !! Laugh myself silly at her indignant squeal ... :-))

Yes, but to be fair apart from Wilf (and the Sarah Jane Smith cameo) I haven't liked any Nu Who companions.

I suspect like me you think that maybe the show should be about the Doctor mainly.
Since the return it's always been about how he impacts on the companions life as much as the adventures in time and space aspect

Landed squarely in one strike!

In fact I'd say the last decade has focussed more on the companions life than the adventures in time and space. In fact some episodes the "monster of the week" is decidedly secondary to the companion's lifestyle.

That's probably why the more vocal criticisers of plot have been misjudging it. Recently the plot was hardly ever about the aliens invasion/monster/madman and more to do with the companion and how they coped/emoted.

Yup. Buffy seasons 5 to 7.
Where the Monster of the Week barely at times made the B plot.

And it was the Buffy audience that was one of the new growth areas that RTD went after.

Yes, he quite frequently made mention of Joss Whedon. Difference with Buffy is they had a larger pool of characters to draw from that were all well developed. Who just get the Doctor, his companion, the token character of the series arc and whoever is in an episode. the latter two usually not being that well developed in comparison.

Still they don't all have to follow that pattern otherwise, well, you probably should skip the pretense of being an adventure show and just settle it into a solely character based drama.

I think a modern UNIT family few series, like the early Pertwee years, would do better for a Buffy-esque team than the current flitting about. Hell, we can't even keep the Doctor and his companion together lately!!

This thread is about Amy Pond not about companions in general.

If people cannot stick with the intended purpose of this thread then I would have to ask a mod to close this thread down.

Hey runny, its been a while.

Also, I don't hate the Hartnell years.

Of course then, it was a 4 piece character show where one of the characters just happened to be the titular character.

It's would be interesting to speculate what direction the show would have taken if out of the original 4 Hartnell had been the first to leave.

Probably it would have went the way as Sliders. I don't think regeneration would have come into the mix.

And There - threads don't have owners. They die, or if lucky, grow blossom and die as they need.

If you look back to what I said:
"If people cannot stick with the intended purpose of this thread then I would have to ask a mod to close this thread down."

I therefore in no way said that I can close a thread down.

Wait, what? We're closing the thread now? It's hardly started deviating yet... We're still talking about Who at least and not, say, pickled eggs.

And I think the show has often gone back to that character piece

Doctor and Jamie

Doctor and Sarah Jane

The mass Davison crew

Doctor and Ace

The Nu Who years

You can argue Capaldi has probably had more focused on him than anyone recently

Hey guys,

Having had a request to lock and move this thread due to it straying off topic I thought I should just give a gentle reminder that the title of the thread is "Karen Gillen's best moments as Amy Pond", while the general discussion has veered well away from that.

I've never been particularly strict on staying "on topic" here at the conversely named Offtopica 2, but I can also see why someone would be annoyed if they'd started a thread for a particular purpose and it wasn't being used for that, so I'm going to dig out the following smiley: :backtotopic:

If anyone would like me to split off the posts not about Amy Pond into their own thread just let me know, otherwise someone can start a thread on the subjects being discussed above.

Cheers.

If its possible you could split those posts of, however any wandering of the point into an interesting discussion seems to have be scuppered.

And in a process of deliberately stirring the pot  it might be an idea to merge this and the 5 other Karen Gillan threads into a single KG thread to post all links related to Karen that she will say or has already said about Doctor Who.

More than happy to entertain any suggestions on the running of the forum either by PM or in the suggestions/feedback section, but let's get this thread back on topic, shall we?

Also it was mentioned that Karen has written and directed a feature and from what I could hear of it, it will be about Scotland and I look forward to seeing that film.
