Dogstar 1.14 Dog Show had Lincoln Clark (Emma Leonard) saying that she was going to "reverse the polarity" but for something else other than the neutron flow.

The second and final season of Trust Me revamped the series as original star Jodie Whittaker went to become the Thirteenth Doctor in Doctor Who.

The second season which tells a different story has Doctor Who references with the opener stating that a patient has a shrine to Doctor Who.

The second season starred Alfred Enoch as Corporal Jamie McCain and Enoch is the son of former Doctor Who companion actor William Russell who had played First Doctor companion Ian Chesterton.

Another character in this season of Trust Me is Dr Zoe Wade (Katie Clarkson-Hill) and both Jamie and Zoe are names of Second Doctor companions.

Wonder if any thought was given for Enoch's character to be named Ian instead just like the name of his father's Doctor Who character.

A meme of Wilf with Sylvia behind him from The End of Time bizarrely made its way on July 14 2019 in Dana Delany's Twitter account as Dana paid tribute to her Exit To Eden co-star Stephanie Niznik who sadly passed away on June 23.

https://twitter.com/DanaDelany/status/1 ... 5799747584

Dana and Stephanie are my wives.

The Dogstar season 2 opener Public Enemy Number One sees the Clark clan on a new mission to find the Dogstar.
In reaction to this Glenn (Brandon Burns) said “ I don’t want to go”.

This came in 2011 the year after the Tenth Doctor said those same words as his last words in The End of Time.

The antepenultimate episode of Trust Me had the TARDIS on a tablet with the word TARDIS being the password.

In this tablet is a file titled Skaros, a slight variation on Skaro, the Daleks' home planet.

The third episode of the animated series Blackstar (1981) is The Lord of Time:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmC0N-LsBbE

After the said Lord of Time introduced himself, he got refer to as "Timelord" or "Time Lord".

This episode was written by Marc Scott Zicree and I can only wonder how he came up with the name The Lord of Time.

Saw the first episode of Years and Years written and created by former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies and this series's idea was one he originally came up for Torchwood: Children of Earth but found no room for it there.

This stars Emma Thompson as Vivienne Rook and Davies used this name before for the ill-fated journalist in Doctor Who: The Sound of Drums.

While Doctor Who is not mentioned by name, Davies did put in references that Doctor Who fans could easily pick up as it had Grandma being told that she did not look a day over 900. 900 was the Doctor's age when Davies was running Doctor Who.

Also the scarf that one of the kids wore looks remarkably like the Tom Baker one.

Years 1.2 written by Russell T. Davies sees the introduction of a device called Blink.

Incidentally Blink is also the name of a Doctor Who episode during Davies' run as showrunner although not written by him.

In fact Blink came two episodes before The Sound of Drums which had a Vivenne Rook that is different from the character of the same name in Years and Years.

The antepenultimate episode of Years and Years clearly has its writer Russell T. Davies making references to his Doctor Who episode Turn Left.
When Daniel and Viktor were in a house they say that they are sharing it with 16 other people.
This is the same kind of situation that Donna, Sylvia and Wilf were in, in the alternate world in the said Doctor Who episode.
More explicitly when Stephen was attending to a medical situation he said that his head was turning left!
Also in this episode Britain has adopted compulsory voting, and as stated here, just like in Australia.
This is not the first time that Davies has made reference to Australian politics.
In the first episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day, The New World, there is a newsscroll that makes reference to the Australian Prime Minister.

Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia by Gary Russell has an entry on Marilyn Monroe in A Christmas Carol and says that she was played by Charlotte Howard.
However Marilyn wasn’t seen in A Christmas Carol itself.

Come to think of it I am pretty sure Marilyn’s voice (presumably Howard’s) was heard calling the Doctor as they were about to get married.

Howard however wasn’t credited in A Christmas Carol.

Started Gangsters (1975-78) created by Philip Martin who also appeared in the pilot as the villain.

Gangsters dealt with Martin's fascination with organised crime, the roots of which Martin would used for his debut Doctor Who serial Vengeance on Varos.

Gangsters starred Maurice Colbourne and featured Tania Rogers.

In the DVD commentary for the pilot which Martin took part in, it was noted that he, Colbourne and Rogers all later worked on Doctor Who as Colbourne was Lytton in Resurrection of the Daleks & Attack of the Cybermen and Rogers was Zilda in Robots of Death.

Impulse 2.3 For Those Lost had a conversation about the impact of dream with Townes (Daniel Maslany) bringing up as an example Doctor Who's Dream Lord.

For a Doctor Who reference the Dream Lord was an unexpected one.

The Impulse episode along with the entire Impulse second season was released on October 16 2019 almost seven months before the tenth anniversary of Amy's Choice, the Dream Lord's only appearance, on May 15 2020.

From Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia –

Mummies:
“Sarah Jane Smith told Rose Tyler that, during her time travelling with the Doctor, they fought Egyptian Mummies – in reality these were powerful Servo Robots, created by the Osirans.” [School Reunion]

The information about them being Servo Robots created by the Osirans was presented in Pyramids of Mars but this very fact wasn’t stated at all in School Reunion.

Re-reading the Doctor Who novel The Murder Game by Steve Lyons published in 1997 and featuring the Second Doctor, Ben and Polly.
This had the TARDIS crew arriving on a space station in 2146 and someone asked Polly about RPGs.

Polly, who is from the 1960s, had no idea what RPGs are.

The Doctor then explained that RPGs is an acronym role playing games.

Lyons however was incorrect to describe RPGs as an acronym as acronyms are initials that can be pronounce as words and RPGs cannot be pronounce as a word and it is incredulous that the Doctor would make a mistake like this.

The Fugitive 4.7 Second Sight has a cop being informed about the fugitive Dr Richard Kimble and he asked "Doctor who?"

This first came on October 25 1966 for American audiences but it is unlikely to have been a Doctor Who reference as Doctor Who did not come to the US until 1972.

Incidentally I only came to this episode at this point in time due to the resumption of my viewing of The Fugitive prompted by learning the name of the Doctor Who episode Fugitive of the Judoon!

Rewatched Smile which guest starred Ralf Little.
Coincidentally I have seen Little recently as the new detective in Death In Paradise.
Smile also guest stars Mina Anwar.
She was previously Gita Chandra in The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Recently her SJA daughter Anjli Mohindra (Rani) was Queen Skithra in Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror.

The penultimate episode of Cobra Kai season 2, Pulpo had Demetri (Gianni Decenzo) asking Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) whether he had checked out the new Doctor Who trailer.

Hawk says he does not watch "nerd s**t."

Demetri then says, "You know, uh, Moffat isn't the showrunner anymore."

Hawk: "Wait, really? Since when? Is there a new Doctor? What's he like."

Demetri: "Oh. She's badass"

Hawk: ""She". No way."

This episode along with the entire second season of Cobra Kai was released by YouTube Premium on April 24 2019, just months after the end of Jodie Whittaker's first season as the Doctor.

ABC (Australia) reran World Enough and Time & The Doctor Falls on February 27 and 28-29 respectively and later on the former date the ABC ran new episode Ascension of the Cybermen.
Quite timely with all three episodes featuring the Cybermen and the Master and World Enough and Time & Ascension of the Cybermen being both the first part of the two-part finale of their respective seasons.

DWM #409 in May 2009 has a feature on the then upcoming Torchwood: Children of Earth that coming July and it included an interview with James Moran who had co-written Day Three with Russell T. Davies.

Children of Earth had featured Peter Capaldi as John Frobisher and Capaldi had earlier been in Doctor Who: The Fires of Pompeii playing Caecilius and also written by Moran.

In this interview Moran said he didn't know Capaldi was going to play John Frobisher until a couple of drafts in and was thrilled.

Moran:

"He did such a great job in Pompeii, and I'm a huge fan of his work anyway, so it was great to be able to write for him again in the Whoniverse, but in another time period."

Unfortunately Moran did not get to write for Capaldi when he became the Twelfth Doctor later on.

However a clip of Fires of Pompeii with Capaldi as Caecilius was included in The Girl Who Died as the Doctor realised why he has the face that he has.

Also Hell Bent had the Doctor saving Clara from the Raven at the last minute and it was a virtual re-enactment to when the Doctor saved Caecilius and his family at the last minute in The Fires of Pompeii.

The Magicians 5.2 The Wrath of the Time Bees had Margo (Summer Bishil) saying "timey-wimey, whatever".

While not necessarily explicit as Doctor Who references, the Time Bees in the episode title certainly made me think of the significance of bees in David Tennant's final season as the Doctor.

Elsewhere in the episode it is revealed that when Quentin finishes reading a book he goes back to the beginning to read it again.

The Doctor in The Angels Take Manhattan says he does not like endings.

The Angels Take Manhattan is my wife Karen Gillan's swansong as Amy and her first work after this is the movie Not Another Happy Ending.

The Marvel Super Hero Adventures episode Bend, Don't Break had Spidey and Ghost-Spider in pursuit of Rhino.

Rhino was stopped when Ghost-Spider blinded him making him to say, "Hey who turn out the lights".

This made me think of Proper Dave saying those same words in the Library in Silence In The Library/Forest of the Dead.

It does not seem to be a coincidence because the reason why Spidey and Ghost-Spider were chasing Rhino is because he stole a book from a library!

Bend, Don’t Break is an episode of Marvel Super Hero Adventures just as Silence In The Library/Forest of the Dead is a story of David Tennant's third season as the Doctor.

Something that is definitely coincidental is after seeing the Marvel Super Hero Adventures episode, I finished the antepenultimate episode of Grey's Anatomy season 16, Love of My Life which had Maggie (Kelly McCreary) asking the opposite about lights as she asked for them to be turned on.

From The Blacklist 7.5 Norman Devane (No. 138):

Theo (Ty Doran): I swiped these from Dr. Mitchell's [Kevin O'Rourke] office so that we can get into the south wing a-and find wherever Dr. Who took you.

Howie (Zachary Unger): Do you even watch "Dr. Who"?

In the DVD commentary on Gangsters Incident 1, commentary moderator Dick Fiddy commented on Maurice Colbourne reprising John Kline after doing the pilot.

Fiddy said to the effect that Colbourne was somewhat hesitant about getting back as John Kline and that it was like Chris Eccleston not wanting to do more Doctor Who.

Director Alastair Reid commented on Terry Downes, an ex-boxer turned actor, sitting in the background with nothing to say as what he said was unintelligible.

Reid said he came up with his backstory of him having his throat cut and therefore could only talk via a Dalek-sounding device!

TV WEEK (Australia) of May 9-15 2020 has an interview with Hard Quiz host Tom Gleeson as he talks about "The TV shows that Made Me" and Doctor Who is one of three shows that he talks about. the others being The A-Team & Insiders (an Australian TV program).

On Doctor Who, he said:

"Tom Baker was always my favourite Doctor from the earlier days of the program. Actually, I have a long, coloured scarf that someone knitted me as a present because they knew I was a Doctor Who fan. Back in the '90s, I was in a band and we used to play a cover of the Doctor Who theme - it always went down well. I haven't really caught up with the new series - I don't know why. But then I'm an adult now, so maybe I grew out of it, unlike some of my contemporaries."

This is accompanied by this picture of Tom Baker and a Cyberman:

Hard Quiz (Australia) on Wednesday May 6 2020 had for Tom's round the subject of angels.

One of the questions was

"The Weeping Angels are known to terrorise the heroes of which television series?

A. Westworld

B. Lost

C. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

D. Doctor Who"

Carmen (who was there for her subject of Gossip Girl) and Nelson (Tiger Woods) correctly answered D while Chris (Jack the Ripper) and Branwell (Julia Gillard) went for C.

There was a big cheer when Tom revealed that D is the correct answer.

Also during this Hard Quiz was a question about Laurel and Hardy and in the final round George Bernard Shaw was brought up.

The one thing Weeping Angels, Laurel and Hardy and Shaw all have in common is my wife Karen Gillan.

As Amy, my wife Karen met Weeping Angels in The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, The God Complex, the mini-episode Good as Gold and in her swansong The Angels Take Manhattan.

The Angels and my wife Karen as Amy would have separate cameos in The Time of the Doctor.

In The Impossible Astronaut, my wife Karen as Amy saw the Laurel and Hardy movie Flying Deuces.

Shaw had written Pygmalion which eventually became the inspiration for the short-lived Selfie starring a post-Doctor Who Karen.
