Apparently the Doctor Who Series 11 trailer to air tomorrow during the World Cup final. So either halftime or after the match.

To my mind, halftime would make most sense if the Beeb want to get a ratings spike during the length of the match.

Oh joy, Doctor Who meets Dinnerladies.

Sorry, not a fan of that particular accent I'm afraid.

Hello! Just passing by and thought I’d drop in again, see how everyone is!

*tumbleweed rolls by*

Hello!!

Hello...?

Guess the news is slow eh?? So, the BBC decided to release some footage. Meh. There less to go on there than the end of the Christmas special.

I saw the new Sonic Screwdriver toy has been unveiled. Hell its an ugly thing. Looks like one of Sauron’s severed fingers with an orange glow. I guess there’s a reason for it but it looks less like a technical bit of kit and more like a designer has over thought it.

On the plus, no more Murray Gold!! Woo. I was seriously bored by his scores in the end.

We can only hope Briggs doesn’t come back and someone else can have a go at alien voices for a bit. Or Daleks, or Cybermen. Let’s have a proper restart!!

Oh well. Guess I’m talking to no-one. :(

Right, I’ll be off then.

Oh. Where is everyone??

Hey, the more you post the more you'll get replies, there's only so much I can do besides keeping the place running!

Not a big fan of the new sonic myself but it's nicer than the last one. Though I've found the "sonic dildo" Internet meme quite hilarious.

Yep, I drift by occasionally but bar a serial poster there’s not a lot going on. Not a lot from the BBC either frankly.

Once the series is up and running there may be more activity but to be honest... I suspect t there will be quite a few previous posters who won’t be back.

Oh and I didn’t like Capaldi’s screwdriver either. Can’t say I’ve seen any dildo meme’s online but frankly our old friend Moffat came up with the original sex toy joke back in 1999 with Curse of the Fatal Death. Joanna Lumley’s Doctor: “Oh it’s got three settings?!?” Buzzzz buzzzzzzzzzz buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. *groan*

Between watching a few classics and some Tennant, Smith and Capaldi here and there in recent months I'll admit I'm starting to get a bit jazzed now. And as someone who frequently moans about trailers giving too much away I'm frustrated that we know almost nothing. So in 6 months time I'll be glad we knew bugger all at this point.

Apparently the BBC sent a C&D letter to an online news outlet that published the broadcast date of the new series. Despite the fact that they got that information from Apple iTunes!

Anyway the BBC has officially announced the air date now.

It’s out there. Best not post it here though, they’re getting a bit defensively litigious about this now

New trailer. That's a different vibe. Feels a totally new series - just what's needed after a long era. The colours are more vibrant.

Really looking forward to it now - my Girlfriend is no longer working 6 days a week & we can watch it together now :D

She finds the 'Sonic Vibrator' thing hilarious & mentioned a post on Mumsnet about a guy getting smacked by his other half ( huge Who Fan apparently) , by saying that that was going to be her main Christmas present ... and that it'd better work as she 'wasn't easy to satisfy' !!! :hitthetable:

The latest TV WEEK (Australia) dated October 6-12 2018 has an interview with Jodie Whittaker about being the new Doctor as her debut season approaches.
She said that she “really wanted to bring a friendly kind of being.”

On her audition for the Doctor:
“I had the most fun. I found it moving and energizing and loved auditioning. I thought, ‘Oh my God – I want this job.”

On her gender, Jodie urges fans to look at the bigger picture.

“The point of the role, which is so wonderful, is that the body you regenerate in could be you.
If you’re a kid watching the hero looks like you. And because this is some people’s first [Doctor Who], it won’t be the female Doctor. It will be The Doctor, and that will be really exciting.”

The trivia time box on this stated:
“Doctor Who writer Chris Chibnall created Broadchurch, which starred both Jodie and Tenth Doctor David Tennant.”

Incidentally David Bradley (William Hartnell in An Adventure In Space and Time and the First Doctor in The Doctor Falls & Twice Upon A Time) was also in Broadchurch.

Pages later the new season got reviewed by Darren Devlyn.
Devlyn quoted what the Doctor says to her new companions,
“All of this is new to me. New faces. New worlds. So, if I asked, really, really nicely, would you be my new best friends?”

Devlyn responded, “Absolutely.”

TV WEEK (Australia) of October 27- November 2 2018 has a letter about the new Doctor from reader Beth.

Under the headline “A new Doctor in the house”, Beth wrote:
“It’s been nice to finally see a female doctor in Doctor Who. The show is lucky to have Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor.
She’s a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to see what adventures they have in store for her.

TV WEEK’s response:
“As long as the Doctor is quirky and intelligent, it doesn’t matter who they’re played by, although fans might argue each actor brings something new to the role.
We look forward to watching all 10 episodes with Jodie and the Christmas special in this series.”
