Funny how Mandip got introduced here, a reaction they give here and how this ends.

RTD to return as showrunner;

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-58682472

Hmm. To be honest, I stopped watching New Who towards the end of the RTD/Tennant era, when (in my humble opinion) it became one of those shows where everyone involved - on both sides of the camera - have gotten drunk on success, started to believe their own hype, are getting very smug and pleased with themselves, and think that everything they throw at the screen is brilliant (Sherlock is another textbook example). I haven't gone back to the show since. RTD's return won't tempt me.

Yeah, I'm less than thrilled.

I'd become very annoyed at the RTD era towards the end. Then when the Doctor leaped out of a spaceship, fell hundreds of feet, crashed through a glass ceiling and landed on his face on a marble floor only to get up with a few scratches, I thought WTF?! It was bullshit, and I'm expecting more of the same. Bloody wish they'd gone with Straczynski. Or anyone else.

TV WEEK (Australia) of November 6-12 2021 has Doctor Who: Flux on its "What I'm Watching" feature.
Watching Flux is TV WEEK Associate Editor Tamara Cullen.
Cullen says:
"Despite the otherworldly adventures and time-travel that mere mortals will never experience, there's still something relatable about Doctor Who.
For me, it starts with the use of an everyday object, aka the phone booth, as a teleportation device and ends with the complexity of human emotion even the brilliant Doctor can't escape.
In the new season, the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodi [sic] Whittaker) seeks answers about her past in the wake of their most recent battle while facing new monsters across several universes. There are also old enemies whose unfinished business includes world domination. Yikes! It might be time for the Doctor to jump in the phone booth and call for help!"
Along with this piece there are two pictures, one is that of a Cyberman with the caption "Oh no! What do the Cybermen want this time?" and the other is with the main cast of Mandip Gill, Jodie Whittaker and John Bishop as their characters.

TV WEEK (Australia) of November 20-26 2021 has a feature on Doctor Who: Flux with the headline Twisting Time - Doctor Who Returns For A Very Different Adventure.
This has a picture of Mandip Gill as Yaz and John Bishop as Dan and a picture of Jodie as the Doctor.
The caption for the Yaz-Dan picture asked the question due to the looks on their faces, "Why are Yaz and Dan (John Bishop) so worried?"
For the Jodie picture the caption simply states that this is her third and last as the Doctor.
With production on Jodie's final season coming in the midst of COVID, the piece states that showrunner Chris Chibnall had two choices that of "little episodes in one room, with no monsters...or do the biggest story we've ever done."
Chibnall went for the "biggest story" option and the piece states for only the third time in Doctor Who's 58-year history (presumably in reference to after the Key To Time and The Trial of a Time Lord seasons).in which the season became one continuous tale.
This has an interview with Mandip Gill in which she tells TV WEEK:
"This is one epic story with six thrilling chapters inside it.
It'll be like one really long film."
Mandip says that the longer format will provide a chance for the relationships between Yaz, The Doctor and others to develop.
She explains:
"The great thing about this series is we're able to delve into emotions and characters further, because we don't have to say goodbye to people at the end of the episode.
Yaz [for example] develops a really lovely relationship with Jacob Anderson's character Vinder and we're able to explore that over several episodes."
The piece states that this format also gives Mandip a chance to expand on Yaz who quickly became one of the series most popular characters because she approached her adventures with The Doctor the way any normal person would: cautiously.
However TV WEEK says that Mandip hints the time for caution may be over, with a clue that she might be taking a bigger role in things this Doctor is heading to her end.
Mandip:
"In this series, there are times when Yaz knows a little bit more [than she once would have], so she's able to be a bit more bossier."
