Well for starters no one else has revived one of my favourite threads from the SFX forum since most of us moved in a month ago and I have to do it. Nah... just kidding! I may get some funny looks for this but for as long as I can remember I've never liked it getting dark early. I've always preferred it when daylight lasts longer, which is one reason I prefer summer to winter. I was walking home at 5 o clock last night and it was a nice enough looking evening with the sunlight still showing a bit even though the sun was hidden behind the clouds but I felt a little bit sad and thought this time tomorrow it's gonna be dark, and sure enough I was right.

Furniture that is too small! More specifically - beds that are so near to the ground that when I put my legs over the side, with feet on the floor, my knees are higher than the bed. This could be just me getting old (quite likely) but I find this very uncomfortable, especially first thing in the morning. Also - sofas/chairs that have a low back. If I sit on a sofa I want to be able to rest my head on the back, not lean back only to find that there is nothing for my head to relax against. This means that should I doze off I wake up facing the ceiling with a quite painful neck.

It always feels to me like my head is being shoved from behind.

I'm not a fan of those sofas where the seat is so long when you sit on it and lean back you can almost lie down. Why is the back so far away??

Pretty much in proportion to my height - long enough to want longer sofas.
Annoyance - why can't publishers agree on book sizes??? You start collecting a series then one book changes the size and your nice tidy shelves are ruined with a book that is a different size!
Don't get me ranting about the annoyances of starting a book series with paperbacks, then new ones have to be purchased in hardback when they first come out.

Paperback to hardback/ trade paperback for me usually happens for series I get into then can' t wait to read the next when it comes out.
But that is what they are praying/preying on and why they do that.
What really annoys me is changing the cover artwork style midway in a series.

Did you never have any then? All those ill-matching spines would have driven you crazy!!
You'd have dropped your trumpet.
The DVD's are much better. Until you get to the new series and then they all go different again.
Haven't got any BDs.
My downloads look lovely though. :)

Aaah, but still some have the 2Entertain logo at the bottom.....just plain inconsiderate if you ask me. There are a few with reversible sleeves, but some with not. Itrs madness designed to drive the OCD crazy. There was a site doing sleeves for Nu-Who (and original series audios) in the style of the DVDs, not sure if they've kept up to date lately though, and you'd need a lot more shelf space for them than a nice boxset. But....how great would a complete run in that style box look on the shelf?

Woke up at half one this morning with really bad indigestion. Took one of them Gaviscon thingamabobs and watched TV for ten minutes till I felt a bit better.
Went back to bed, and was just drifting back off to sleep when - CRASH! Got up again, calmed down mum (who gets really nervous about strange noises during the night) and went off in search of whatever had made the noise.
The showerhead, the brand new, less than two months old showerhead, had somehow broken off the hose and fallen into the bath. Closer inspection reveals that the connector has completely sheared off.
So, later on we're giving the contractor who did the work initially a wee ring and get him to account for himself.

People going on quiz shows who are thick.
Why. Before applying maybe they should watch it and try to answer the questions before the answer is given.
If you don't know the answer to the majority of questions, chances are, you are not going to get them. This especially holds true if you "know", or have heard of something after the answer has been given.
And on the quiz topic. Quiz/gameshow formats designed to take money away from an initial total. You start with £n and can only win about a 10th at most. That's all about programmes flashing a big prize, knowing it will never be won.

I end up screaming abuse at all the stupid people on the TV.

I do this...but then the contestants answer a question on sport that I would never have the faintest idea of knowing in a million years...then, I shut up....

Beaker wrote: I do this...but then the contestants answer a question on sport that I would never have the faintest idea of knowing in a million years. Yeah, me too. Sport isn't my strong point. But the ignorance of some people truly horrifies me. I'll give you an example. A few months ago, I was listening to Claire Balding's show "Good Morning Sunday" on Radio 2. Her guests included the Von Trapp Family Singers (the Captain and Maria's grandchildren). At one point in the show, Ms. Balding read out some listener's emails, one of which was from a guy saying he didn't know "The Sound of Music" was based on a true story. I hate musicals, the number of musicals I like I can count on the fingers of one hand and still have a digit free to pick my nose with, and even I know that - yes - "The Sound of Music" is based (somewhat losely) on real people and events. You kind of worry about people, don't you?

How in the name of God's holy trousers can King - the company that gave us that damn "Candy Crush" thing - continue to churn out "new" games that're all but identical to it?

My mum worked on a few game shows. Contestant selection is actually quite hard. The ones she worked on were weekday afternoon fare, so prizes weren't big (think countdown althoush she didn't work on countdown) in general they aimed to get people on who weren't utterly useless but similarly avoided geniuses who would wipe the floor with everyone. However, as expected, exceptions were made for people who may bring a bit of "Personality" although again that had to be limited. The word game she worked on was at least a bit simpler as there is only one subject (Words) a general knowlege one was significantly harder as people generally have specialities.

Doors with 'push' or 'pull' on them that actually open both ways. Why not put 'push or pull' on them?
