No. A couple of glasses of wine every few weeks, mostly.

What kind of drunk are you? (fighty, giggly, morose, etc.)

Depends on the booze:
Beer= Warm buzz
Spirits= Gain strength, lose coordination, get very friendly (not in a sexual way, treating everyone like my best friend even if I've only just met them)
Cider= Cying and paranoid
Wine= Weird apparently (I black out)

Suffice to say, I don't drink much any more.

What's the one vice you couldn't give up?

Chocolate. I know, I know, it's such a cliche, but I get really tetchy if there isn't any. I try to mitigate this by eating 'better' chocolate, but in truth I will eat any sort of chocolate.

I am also suggestible and now have to pop to the shop...

Same question. Let's get a list of vices going

Smoking. Obviously. *allows all the facts and figures and lectures to roll over her* Yeah, yeah, I know, but it's so NICE. Nommy nommy cigarettes.

I should totally give up.

Go on then, let's build up a list:

same question.

Masturbation and pornography, I need one for the other. I think after sixteen years of celibacy and having a wet dream I just thought I may need an outlet.

Same question?

Coffee, I need it to function. We are already asleep, we drink coffee to earn back our waking hours. Coffee is life!

Same question.

All caffeine. I regularly try to kick it but I need to function fully.

On a nicer note, what do you like most about yourself?

My silliness? I think probably that. Making up off the cuff songs, dancing at random moments, playing ridiculous games, all those sorts of things make life bearable, I think.

Saaaaaaaaaaame question!

My ability to ignore everything else around me when I'm reading.

Do you have a fictional "type"? A kind of character that you'll always want to know about?

The bastard\the broody guy\girl who is on the side of the heroes, the one who seems to be so far away from human that I want to know the story behind them. How did they get to be this person but still want to do good?

What would you like to learn how to cook?

I'd like to be able to cook a bacon and egg pie like my Mam used to make me when I was a kid.

Same question.

Croissants, danish pastries, patisserie. That sort of thing. I've tried croissants twice and, given that they take all day, I'm probably not going to try them again. The second batch were edible, at least.

Inspired by twitter today: if you could go to work dressed as a book character, and you didn't have to make the costume yourself  , who would it be?

Interesting question.

You would have to balance distinctiveness with practicality. Also unless it's a distinctive period, most SF and Fantasy characters are out, as what they were is broadly drawnby the author. Unless you want to turn up like a film/TV adaption version.

All that taken into consideration might go for Allan Quartermain and do a typica 19th centuryl colonial African look.

Same question

Stig from Stig of the Dump, and not the Top Gear driver. I feel more comfortable in scruffy clothing, well not so much scruffy, but well worn.

Same question.

Ideally if I don't have to make it I'd like some hulking impractical armour and a weapon. Obvious choice is a Warhammer 40k Space Marine. I think it would work well in a training environment. Putting a hard hat & Hi viz vest for practical stuff may look a bit silly though

Same question

Right now, definitely Ephemeral from the Copper Cat trilogy. I have been planning a Phemmy cosplay for a couple of years, but haven't managed to do it yet. Not having to make it (I'm taking that as do the hair and make up in this case) would be brilliant. I could just wander about being, to quote JW, "a Polite Pain in the Ass Across the World."

Same Q

Probably one of the Musketeers. Something about that look I feel I could rock.

What set of films do you think is most in need of reappraisal?

Burtan's Batman duology.

In the run up to BvS, the stations here have been showing a lot of comic book films, especially anything Batman or Superman related.

So saw parts of these two recently. Boy do they look clunky and of their time. While. Keaton is good, that suit is practically immobile.

Same question.

Not really a set of films, but I would like critics to finally admit that 2001 is overlong and dull. Though I can't see that ever happening

What do you think about daylight saving time? Good, bad or indifferent?

I don't see the point. We may as well stay at GMT all year.

Come the summer sunset at 10:30 and dark by midnight, or if we stayed GMT sunset 9:30 and dark by eleven - big difference. Same in the morning, light by 4 or by 3.

Of course living this far north I might be missing something. So same question to those living further south.

I am very divided on the issue. On the one hand it seems a bit stupid as 1. It's not the real time & 2. It was just introduced as a wartime measure. However, I was discussing this with someone who was campaigning to keep it permanently BST and they showed that it does indeed save lives by reducing road deaths. So while it may be stupid I'm be willing to accept it as one of those things that is useful.

What would be your dream holiday if there were no restrictions?

If no restrictions included time travel, Ancient Rome.

If it doesn't, but did include not being shot/bombed/held hostage then a tour of the Middle East. Starting North Africa, so Egypt, doing the usual, head to Mt Sinai to do St Katherine's, up to do Israel (Jerusalem and surrounding s, Dead Sea, Lake Tiberias, Jaffa) over to Jordan and Petra, LI know Syria is out at the moment, but would have loved to have seen Palmyra before the twats destroyed it even more, a swing through Iraq to see the ancient sites, up through Kurdish areas, heading to Armenia and around the Caucasus mountains, before heading to Turkey and doing the Cappadocian Rock churches.

It will be a long time before such a trip is possible.

Getting back to previous question, a year long BST I would object to. That would cause problems further north. It would mean sunrise after 9 am here, up in Scotland even later. Might reduce accidents in the south, for northern indoor workers, no daylight seen for a few months, and probably more accidents up here.

So same travel question again. Where would everyone else go.

My fantasy holiday would be a week staying in the Leaky Cauldron and visiting Diagon Alley. Every time I read the Harry Potter books, I want to poke around in the shops and soak up the atmosphere.

My real-world dream holiday with the restrictions of time, money and health removed would be at least a month, up to about six, in New York. I've been fascinated by it since I was little (thank you Paula Danziger) and I'd love to have time to really explore it, but also have time to chill. Beach holidays don't really hold any appeal for me, I've always preferred cities.

Same question.

A whole week sitting in my back garden, with a big pile of comics, a constant supply of tea and the cats around my feet.

I'm a simple soul.

Same question.

No restrictions - I'd love to see Machu Picchu. I have no idea why.

The modest-budget version is probably the same as Beaker. Though I think I'd like a shady hammock somewhere warm and some chocolate to go with my books.

If you had to go on a TV quiz show, which would you do?

Pointless. There is something about the format being a correct answer might not be good enough that appeals to me. Having a broad knowledge of subjects not being sufficient, and thinking you cannot give an answer because it is obvious to you, it must be obvious to everyone else keeps that keeps the show fresh to me.

Same question.

Had you not already, I'd've said Pointless, because it looks like so much fun to take part in. But to avoid repetition, I'll say Only Connect. It also looks like a lot of fun to do, and we do okay when we play it at home. We had a bit of a problem with the online Connecting Walls for a while: we spent whole evenings going through them, and used to pause episodes of OC to play the Walls online before watching the teams do it.

The podcasts of Pacific North West Stories. I would worry though they'd ask me background questions but I think that would be suitably tight enough for me to keep control of the category.

The Lives and Times of Edmund Blackadder. Making sure I'd tracked down all the little extra skits they've done for various charities/events could throw a spanner in the works, but I'd try!

Same question.

I was thinking about this after I posed the question, and at this point, after podcasting about it for four years, I think I'd go with Babylon 5. If there were questions about ship design I'd be pretty screwed, but plot points, character and actor names, writers (if in doubt, prolly JMS), directors and episode titles? Yeah, I reckon I'd have a fair shot.

What's your Trivial Pursuit category of choice? (Genus edition, don't be getting all fancy on me :longwink:)

It's been so long since I played I had to wiki it to remind me of the categories  I would go for Arts & Literature, I think, with Sports & Leisure being my nemesis!

What's your favourite board game?
