I think most of my favourite jokes are technically dad jokes, in that they're terrible yet brilliant. My absolute favourite joke is:

Did you hear about the magic tractor?

Spoiler:
It drove up the road and turned into a field

Are you a fan of puns?

Yes, I love a good pun. I'm quite fond of the bad ones too

What's your favourite Indiana Jones film?

What a question! As a child it was Temple of Doom as it was much more old school fun adventure and less mytical pontificating but I now find it quite problematic. Probably Last Crusade if just for Sean Connery and Harrison Ford's brilliant double act.

Favourite Marvel Cinematic Universe film?

I think Winter Soldier.

I heard all the pre publicity spiel above evoking 70s thrillers and went yeah. Usual PR talk.

I wasn't expecting such a good film, nicely balanced between action, fun and such a major surprise direction change for the MCU.

Let's reverse it - what's your least favourite Marvel film (that covers non MCU if you want).

Iron Man 2. I love RDJ's portrayal of Tony Stark, but the Iron Man films are by far my least favourite of the MCU films, and Iron Man 2 is the worst of them. I just find it really dull.

What's your favourite non-Marvel/DC comic book film?

Tough one. I keep shifting between the last Two X-Men films and Man of Steel. I may have to go for Days of Future Past as the ending makes me cry like a baby.

Do you read comic books? If so what format and type do you prefer?

I don't read them much - possibly because superheroes are not my thing, and they're a great big chunk of comics. When I do read something, it's usually a collected volume.

Do you collect anything?

Not actively at the moment, but I have been a serial collector. As a kid I collected tins - little pretty keepsake tins - but I've got rid of most of them. As a teenager and into my early thirties, I collected sheep. It got to a ridiculous stage where my friends and family were basically competing to see who could get me the most original sheep related product. I called a moratorium on them, because they were taking over my house, but every birthday or Christmas at least one person would say, "I know you said no more sheep... buuuuuuuut..." Again, I've got rid of most of them (I don't think Mr M would have let me in the house with all of them), but I've still got the most precious, meaningful, useful and unique ones.

I've always had a collection of action figures, and went through various phases of collecting certain lines. My biggest collections are of Star Wars figures: original Kenners and Galactic Heroes. My GHs are on permanent display over three shelves in our living room. They are for playing with. Almost the first thing my niece does when she visits is ask me to get them down. I haven't bought any for ages, because I can't afford the ones I don't have!

Same question

Zippo lighters. I have 45 including a couple of rare ones and at least 12 from different forces around the world. I used to collect vinyl records from all my favourite bands,i would go nuts for limited edition picture discs.

Same question.

It's been a while since I have but I used to avidly collect playing cards, in particular I would love seeing ones from different countries and time periods. Stopped because I don't tend to play cards much any more (the few I know who do at my age are semi-professionals and all complete assholes about my reckless style).

I've been curious about the prospect of Matt Ryan's Constantine turning up in Arrow in Autumn, if you could have a character from cancelled/ended show turn up in a current one, who would it be and why?

I would have Walter Bishop from Fringe turn up in pretty much anything, because he would always be fascinated. But if I have to pick one show, I want to see him talking to The Eleventh Doctor. My squee levels would be off the scale

(Weirdly, last night I dreamt about a Hannibal /Supernatural crossover, but I'm not sure I would really want to see that.)

Same question.

Chiana from Farscape turning up at Defiance would be interesting. Most of the Farscape crew would fit in, but to get more Chiana would be great.

As they are both O'Bannon productions something could easily be done to tie up the universe and smooth stuff out.

The other one I thought would be interesting would be Number 6 or Baltar turning up in the next series of Humans.

One I always wished they had done was Kolchak turning up in CSI.

Same question again.

I know I've had a go, but now I want Harvey from Farscape turning up in Baltar's head on BSG. There's no way he'd cope as well as Chrichton.

Same question again!

Soppy answer, I'm afraid: cuddling up with Mr H when it's all cold and windy outside

What was your favourite cartoon series as a kid?

People always seem to think that sprinkling sugar on tomatoes for a snack is odd, but it's delicious. I also used to have a habit of dunking fries into chocolate milkshake as a teenager

Same question.

Vanilla ice cream (pref Mr Whippy style) with salt and vinegar crisps (the cheaper and vinegary the better). It's a family classic, but most people find it repulsive.

Same question!

Don't think I have any more that aren't a variation on salty/sweet, but to kickstart the thread again I'll mention an unusual treat my gran used to make us - Thunder & Lightning. Or clotted cream (thunder) spread on white bread with golden syrup (lightning) drizzled across it. Getting the zig-zag shape is very important. It's delicious, but probably horrific for your cholesterol levels.

What headcanons do you have?

My big one is I tend to slash pair a lot in my head so there is a lot of same sex coupling that goes on in my mind as soon as the camera turns away....

Who is your favourite almost but not quite fictional couple?

Currently, Miles O'Brien & Julian Bashir on DS9. Though it's debatable whether they're 'almost but not quite', I guess

same question!

In the week, it's Bran flakes & sultanas. And usually Redbush & Vanilla tea with it. And a glass of juice. Weekends are more varied, but often involves toast or crumpets.

What's the last thing you eat/drink in the evening?

A mug of milk. Never really stopped doing that from when I was young and sets me up nicely for bed.

Do you sometimes end up eating your planned lunch before lunchtime?

No, because that way lies the destruction of civilisation and all that is good in the world. And also because my taking-to-work food always includes a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack, as I feel better eating small amounts regularly.

Do you ever think of a question for this thread and then forget it when you go to post?
