I have just discovered that my ancient copy of Worms World Party works on my new Vista PC! This means that online Worms is a very real possibility with anyone who has the game. The Team17 servers seem to be up and running still

So, anyone interested in scheduling a game or two at some point will be very well received.

Adam, I'm reliably informed that you'll be able to enjoy the PC Worms experience as soon as the postal service allows. Compatibility issues aside, I hope that we'll soon be killing each other on the big screen as well as the small DS one!

I love it when a plan comes together...

Hopefully this will work. Going to try and upload the patch to fix the graphics in Vista...

If it does work, the instructions are fairly straightforward, though the sound thing that's supposed to tell you it's worked doesn't actually work itself (read the read-me file, you'll understand).

Huzzah! Just click on the description to download the file (zipped).

Are you getting more than just the graphics problems?

Edited after Google marathon:

OK, firstly, make sure you have all updated drivers for your graphics, and the latest direct X stuff (though I expect you already have).

some guy wrote:
Then try this (copied from the Team17 forums):

Go to the installation folder and find the WWP application icon.

Right click on it and select Compatibility. Then set it to Windows 98 (not XP SP2, remember when this game was made please!).

Then turn on the full permissions/Admin thingy.

Here's where I got that from. There's a lot more but it's all very samey, and a lot of what's said is that if you have a laptop with an Intel chipset you won't be able to get WWP to work. :frown:

Still, worth doing the quoted above, then using the file in my last post to fix the graphics problems if that works.

Then I'm afraid the only solution is for you to buy another computer to play it on.

No? Oh.

I know. I downloaded Full Spectrum Warrior last night, tried to play it today and it just crashed as soon as I tried to start a mission. Bloody Vista.

One last thing you could try is downloading the Direct Draw graphics drivers (not Direct X). Here'sa google search page with plenty of places to download them from. But as I said, if you have an Intel chipset and no graphics card (or an Intel one) then they won't work, probably.
