Here's the promo trailer for The Outer Rim expansion pack, looking good.

Spotted a nice few titbits in here watching the video back. The new weapons appear to include a Jabba's Palace Blaster (same model Luke Force pulled from one of Jabba's guard's holsters in ROTJ) and what looks an awful lot like Bossk's blaster rifle. The Star Cards also seem to include a projectile firing shotgun style weapon that looks like it cuts through personal shields (ray shielding so only works against energy weapons), previously only the long range slug throwing Marksman's Rifle and I believe the other sniper rifle, the Pulse Rifle could penetrate this shield, so this will be the first close quarters weapon, other than grenades that can cut through it all close and personal like, so that'll be a bit of a game changer. There also seems to be an anti-vehicle weapon called the Distruptor, which from it's bolts blue hue and tendrils of energy looks to be an ion weapon, but the results look like a devastating area effect weapon, dangerous to vehicles and infantry alike. You then have the new heroes shown here. You don't really get to see what Nien Numb has oing for him yet, but you do see one of Greedo's special abilities, and it seems to be an ability to target multiple players at the same time Robocop style, and just annihilate them all with a quick salvo of blaster fire, nice. And the new locations look great. Looking forward to exploring them in person when the DLC hits tomorrow.

WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!!

Now this is what I've been waiting for, up for a little urban warfare on Bespin's Cloud City? Looks like these'll be the maps I dreamed of designing and playing since before I started working on First Strike mod all those years ago. I'll have to hunt down my proposal for the Bespin maps and see how many of my ideas play out in EA and DICE's effort.

Until then, here's the nifty new trailer:

Found it. Good grief, this is going back a bit, this was an initial proposal made before I was even on the mod team, way back in 2006!

:gasp:

I'd like to see the First Strike team have a crack at a Bespin Cloud City map, in my opinion that is a level that has so much potential. The original SWBF Cloud City was easily one of the best (gameplay wise) maps in the game (even though from an art point of view it was fairly ropy in places, textures just running off of edges, quite low levels of detail geometry wise), I still can't understand how it got dropped from SWBF2. That map fully realised with gleaming spires, grand streets and soaring walkways (Snipers would have a field day) would be the ultimate infantry map in the SW universe, I suggest we use it.

Also you could have hours of fun zipping around the buildings having dogfights in your little Twin Pod Cloud Cars. You could also open up other elements from the location that aren't seen in the movie like the opulent casinos and other nightspots that would have to make up any city governed by Lando Calrissian. Like the Cantina in Mos Eisley, but a lot bigger and with a lot more class.
Another cool thing would be to have a second full Cloud City map based in the city's industrial underbelly featuring the Carbon Freezing Chamber, the Detention Area, Junkyard, and the huge shaft (the full works, not a little bit on the side like in the SWBF map), maybe you could have a quarter of it built with that wind vein construction that Luke and Vader fight on, and have the rest of the shaft created with a skybox. It could feature all the other cool locations that served as the backdrop for the Luke vs Vader scrap, you could have some real intense battles amongst all that junk in the shadows. And pick off Ugnaughts when you have a spare minute.

Oooooh!

Hello there.

This is what this game needs right now. Geonosis was the most epic map back in the original Star Wars Battlefront way back in the day, looking forward to seeing what they do with it here.
