I was about to post this myself.

So about that Suicide Squad gig. Oh you were producing this before you were fired. :D

Interesting What If scenario that some people might take the wrong way.

I love the idea. Take the ultimate American feel good icon and twist it into a f***ing nightmare. Couldn’t be better timed.

It's sheer genius, and yet simultaneously so obvious you wonder why nobody's done it before. And let's be honest - if a child with incredible abilities were to arrive on Earth in 'the real world', no matter how saintly his surrogate parents were or how well they raised him, this would be the end result.

If Brightburn is a hit, I predict that some studio executive will instantly greenlight a movie about a mentally ill billionaire who goes out at night dressed in a costume and armed with hi-tech weaponry, swooping down on poor people and beating them to a bloody pulp.

It kinda has been done before after a fashion, in comics at least with Red Sun, giving us the 'what if' scenario of what would happen if Superman had landed in Soviet era Russia, but that is a slightly different take on the premise as it has him as an adult dark Superman. Similar themes to Brightburn are also explored in Chronicle I guess, but this seems way darker, and way more specific regarding which comic book character this is aimed at. I can't wait. Could be the sleeper hit of next year.

Where's Spiderman: Far From Home? Wasn't that trailer supposed to be dropping today?

My understanding is that they showed it at a Brazilian convention but they haven't released it yet. The worst thing about when this happens is that searching for it brings up loads of attention seeking nonsense.

And though this is not exactly a trailer, we now know who should play Theresa May if they ever make a Hollywood blockbuster about Brexit.

I'm aware of Red Son, and there was an earlier exploration of the idea in the Sixties, in Superman #137 which reveals that on it's way to Earth, baby Kal-El's rocket capsule had a glancing collision with an alien spaceship, which responded by instantly creating an exact duplicate of the capsule & it's infant occupant and sending it to Earth (How? Why? Look, it was the Silver Age. Just go with it). The duplicate Kal-El was found & raised by a husband & wife team of criminals, and upon reaching adulthood, called himself 'Supermenace' and confronted Superman.

However, both Red Son and Superman #137 tackle the notion of 'what if Superman had been raised by the wrong people?' - whereas Brightburn proposes that even if he was brought up by good, honest, decent, God-fearing, all-American folk, he still would turn out bad. I totally agree with this. Hollywood likes to portray childhood and children through the warm, comforting glow of innocence - but in reality children want immediate self-gratification. Say 'no' to them and they shout, scream, throw a tantrum, lash out. They can be vindictive and cruel, lacking the emotional maturity to understand the long-term ramifications and consequences of their actions. As Stephen King once wrote, 'you only have to watch a child gleefully pulling the legs off a spider to have very dark thoughts about the future of mankind.' Imagine that coupled with the powers of a god.

On a semi-related note, I've always wanted someone to do a revisionist take on Peter Pan with Peter as the villain and Hook (the adult authority figure - there's a reason why Hook and the Darling children's father is always played by the same actor) as the hero. Because a Boy Who Never Grew Up would be a monster.

Once Upon A Time did the dark Peter Pan thing, and Hook became one of the enduring heroes of the series.

Not all children are inherently evil either!

Heh, I guess this is a final, final trailer then? Please no more let's just see the movie now. Some nice new extra bits in here that give context though.

Here's a Finnish superhero movie that's been on my personal radar for some time. it's finally getting an official DVD release in the UK on 25th February.

Trailer for the Netflix movie Polar, which is based on a comic book series that I believe pre-dated the John Wick films by a couple of years, but there's no denying this wouldn't have gotten greenlit if not for the success of the Wick franchise. So it's a John Wick copy, no argument, but it's Mads Mikkelsen does John Wick, and who doesn't want to see that?

I'm a massive fan of The Car (1977) and have always hoped we'd get a sequel one day, ideally with the titular vehicle returning to menace the same desert town from the original, with James Brolin reprising his role as the (now about-to-retire) sheriff. But instead I guess we have to settle for this;

This looks great. I wonder if it would detract not having seen the 2000 film, I've been put off by bad reviews. For 19 years, apparently!

I bet it isn't necessary. I've seen it, but can't remember jack about it. I think this will stand well enough on it's own, but it wouldn't hurt to see that movie too. Basically Richard Rowntree is Sam Jackson's Shaft's dad, and they're playing the same card here adding another generation.

Aye, am starting to get onboard with this, and to be fair to the new guy, his Hellboy make up does look better than Ron’s. Sorry Ron! But I’d have loved to have seen him in the new make up that today’s tech can provide. But at the same time, there are some pretty heavyweight creatives involved in this. And who can have enough Mila Jovovich in a movie? Looking good. Will definitely be giving this a fair crack of the whip, despite the long shadow Ron Perlman casts over the character.

I do like David Harbour so I'm not going to take against him for replacing Ron Pearlman, but I wasn't really enthused about any more Hellboy until I saw this trailer. Now I'm actually looking forward to seeing it. Plus, Ian McShane.

I'm just not interested in live action remakes of classic Disney animated films. This and Dumbo, I just don't see why.

John Wick 3 looks great, loved the Matrix reference. And the Tarentino film is on my radar now having watched that trailer. I'm a bit indifferent to new Toy Story films though.
