Not sure whether this is good or if I am just pleased with myself for knowing the films that they are "homaging" but I am pleasantly encouraged.

Better looking than I expected, actually, though I'm still not sure about how enthused I'm going to get with the general concept of an alternative take on such a classic Batman villain. Doubt I'll be able to see this in the cinema but I'll probably watch it at home, depending on opinions and reviews.

This looks pretty damned sweet!

:surprised:

The Joker via Travis Bickle, the nods to Taxi Driver are obvious, wasn't too sure before about this, but now? Have to admit, I'm intrigued.

That trailer makes it look like a drama about a stand-up comedian who was once popular but now down on his luck, who makes a comeback in later life and gets an unlikely young new girlfriend.

It still looks pretty dark to me. But based on what we've seen so far, Joker could be seen as a twisted take on the 'personal growth/underdog makes good' cliche. It's about an ignored, downtrodden nobody who finds a purpose, gains confidence and recognition, and becomes Somebody. It's just happens that Somebody is a psychopathic supervillain.
