Another coup for the marketing. The first one was a Valentine's Day film after all :D

Deadpool's promotional material is better than half the films on release this summer.
That was great.

Well, that was great. I would say as good as the first one. Domino is great! Going to spoiler the rest of my comments.

Spoiler:
I thought it was a bit darker than the first one what with the girlfriend dying in the first ten minutes or so, Deadpool trying to kill himself or get killed through a lot of the film, Cable's family and the mission to kill a 14 year old, plus most of X Force dying, which I wasn't sure I was liking, but the post credits scenes more than made up for that. I think I'm getting soft in my old age! Best after credits scene in the history of after credits scenes, sheer genius the bits where he kills off the other Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds before he does Green Lantern!

Oh, just to say for those who haven't watched it, there are two post credits scenes but both are before the main rolling credits (ie after the initial main cast credits). There is no end-end credits scene so no need to sit there until the very end, but there is a very cool little musical number right at the end which personally I would say is worth waiting for.

And who wants to see Deadpool get his own talk show?*

* should only be watched if you've seen Infinity War!

This was very disappointing.

A very disappointing copy and paste alike of the first film, rushed in places, plodding in others. Some abrupt edting/scene transitions, which are sloppy to boot. The writing is far less deft and far more awkwardly on the nose this time.

The first they told a story, with a main character with a unique perspective. This time, they chose scenes and jokes and awkwardly inserted Deadpool into them while plastering a plot over it.

Starts off with promise, threatening to go places with made the Joe Kelly run on the character definitive but chickens out of them.

It does have the germ of a great idea, then drowns it in domestos.

There are genuine laughs in places. most of them are packed into the mid-credits sequence

All in al though, this serves to take the smooth out of the criminal

C minus

Seems to be dividing fans and critics alike then! I really enjoyed it.

Watched over the weekend and totally enjoyed it plenty of jokes and some great action sequences ... and some REAL GOOD cameos

justa quick thing the marketing for this is probably funnier than the film I just found this over on IMDB the synopsis for the film is brilliant "Storyline

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the Yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover."

Heh, I've heard that synopsis elsewhere, but buggered if I can remember where now. Did it appear in the movie somewhere?

I saw this over the weekend too. I really enjoyed it, but felt I needed some distance before noting down my feelings about it. The scope is clearly far bigger as is almost always the norm with sequels, and yet it still felt intimate as the first one did, but for me despite my enjoyment it did feel a little like something was missing, or slightly off kilter, I don't know what that was, perhaps due to the absence of the original director maybe? I don't know, there just didn't seem to be the deftness of touch that the original had, though it still has that balls out irreverent nature about it. I still thought it was great, most of the new key characters worked really well, loved their take on Cable, Domino and the kid in particular. I won't go into spoiler territory here, but I do feel the rest of the X-Force characters were somewhat wasted which was a shame. Though the integration of the X-Men into this was handled nicely, riffing on gags from the first film. The gags for the most part hit home solidly, but there are one or two that fell a little flat, but at the machine gun pace they were flinging them out that still equals a more than acceptable hit rate. Throw in some great character and actor cameos and this is a great enjoyable super-anti-hero movie worthy of at least an 8/10 any day of the week. I just can't help but feel that due to the lack of one of the key players from the first movie, that something was lost here. And oh yes, hang around for the mid-credits scenes. Arguably better than the movie, definitely funnier!

And finally got round to seeing this.

So my view seems to be pretty much the same as everyone. Good, enjoyable fun film, but not as good as the first. Of course this one didn't have 11 years of script polishing.

Best bits, the opening credits doing its James Bond riff, the X-Force scene, and respect for pulling of something I wasn't expecting, and that mid credits scene.

The plot was OK, but not as well handled/structured as the first, and there were a few definite dragging moments.

Thumbs up from me.

And so, one Christmas, it came to pass that a man in red came to deliver a presentation to all the kids that sneaked into the cinema earlier that year, or had seen him on the Blu-ray in a non cynical attempt to boost the box office and possibly pollaxe the entire franchise going forward.

Here is the trailer for Once upon a Deadpool. I wonder how much different it will be.

Heh, that does look like it'll be pretty funny. But yeah, will it be different enough to warrant you parting with your hard earned dollar if you already went to the cinema to see Deadpool 2?

Yeah, I saw that. So much for my idea of taking the kids to see it then!
