Turns out that might be fake news. It appears that WB can run out the clock on Ratner's deal before they start filming WW2.

Though WB just moved the date of WW2, moving it a month earlier. It'll now open Nov 1 2019 but that's moving it out of the way of Star Wars

"Paddington 2" was originally supposed to be coming to US Markets via TWC

But TWC need money urgently and are thus looking to offload the US rights. WB & Sony are in the lead each offering around $30M to secure the US Rights (which doesn't include Promotional Costs). LGF and Open Road are also bidding but their offers are believed to be considerably less than the sums offered by WB or Sony

Paddington generated $76M from Theatres in the US and cost $55M. The second pic is expected to debut in the US on Jan 12th.

Sony would be good news because they would be more amenable than Fox for doing a deal with Marvel for the FF rights (not that I am monomaniacal on this subject but Fox are holding my namesake hostage!) In fact any owner other than Fox would be an improvement given that Fox seem to be holding on to the rights purely out of spite. If there is any kind of break up of the Fox assets hopefully Disney will be able to bring their characters home as their natural owner with the deepest pockets.

On the eve of "CoCo"'s debut in the US, Pixar/Disney's John Lassetar steps down from Disney

Due to "missteps". Though it's still marked as alleged, the evidence is very damming

If they do a trilogy, they could do Evil under the Sun.
And to be even more groundbreaking, they could recast Poirot for Death on the Nile.

Looks like Berg and Johns are joining Snyder in being thrown under the bus by DC.

Despite many assurances that Eurocorp were well protected by the financial disaster that was "Valarian", Eurocorp are laying off 22 employees in a bid to cut costs and have also sold their Television arm

Strangely after causing the huge loss, Besson is still in control of the company and sacked all of those he overruled in-order to make the film

Paramount are starting to look like a division of Netflix. Having already sold Alex Garland's "Annihilation" to the streamer it seems they may also be doing a similar deal on the next Cloverfield pic "The God Particle"

It's like buses. Waiting years for a Star Wars trilogy, then a load come at once.

So creators from Game of Thrones are to make another trilogy. This is separate from the Rian Johnson trilogy.

http://deadline.com/2018/02/star-wars-t ... 202279600/

What this means for the one off Star Wars Tales films in the foreseeable future I don't know. And that they can pick film makers/directors for 3 films better than they can for a single Tales film.

It's as if Lucasfilm lives in its own diversity free bubble completely separate from the rest of Disney. Oh well, at least they have a woman in charge to fire all these white guys.

It's Michael Bay, with potential control of another major franchise, where given track record it will be spectacle over cohesive story.

Truthfully the last thing DC needs is to lurch that way. Although I see the appeal for them with the Transformers numbers worldwide.

Although this story reminds me of this

Part 1

Part 2 with why I am reminded

This one has been running and running, those with a very good memory may remember how Actree Junie Hoang attempted to sue Amazon when its IMDB subsidiary revealed her age. Hoang claimed that revealing her age caused her to lose jobs, Amazon responded that the information was gained from publicly available information and that Hoang had failed to produce any evidence that the revelation of her age had caused her to lose work

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/actress-su ... e-on-imdb/
https://www.geekwire.com/2013/jury-side ... -age-case/

A few years after this California enacted a law that obliged IMDB to remove Actors age upon request, the law came into effect on jan 1st 2017

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ ... mdb-932330

But now IMDB have won a verdict in Federal Court arguing that the Californian law violates the First Amendment ("Freedom of Speech"), arguing that the Californian Law cannot prevent IMDB publishing factual information

The Judge found that IMDB were unfairly prevented from publishing factual information when that information was readily available from other sources

If Warner Bros just got a load of monkeys to bang away on typewriters they would make a better fist of making films. Someone should tell them that part of their company employees people who write and storyboard superhero stories on a monthly basis and they might consider giving some of them a go.

I do wonder if the reason is a bit of a cover. Given all the revelations about Whedon last year I think him helming a woman led picture probably would be a bit problematic.

Now this is very early Roxane Gay has said she would be interested in taking over and DC has taken her up on it:
http://ew.com/movies/2018/02/23/roxane- ... irl-movie/

Gay is a very talented writer and influential thinker (as well as writing the much acclaimed World of Wakanda comic) although has no film credits to her name. Would definitely create an interesting move if it came together.

I'm not sure that this is the best way to get a job given that doing it publicly is a bit "nice company you got there, would be a shame if a load of keyboard warriors called for it to be boycotted". If they have any sense they will be giving Gail Simone a call.

Sesame Street makers sueing the makers of Happytime murders. I take it their might be some tension the next time they want to use a Henson character. Although truthfully I can see why they don't want to be associated with this. However considering the director, that was always going to be difficult. Also where STX sits with the Henson Company I don't know. Or with Disney.

First the trailer in question,in case no one has seen it, which is NSFW, and is seriously WTF have I just seen. Then the article.
