Well, less than a week into the year, and we've already had the Capitol building in Washington DC overrun by a rabid mob who believe they're a heroic army of patriots defending the Constitution and fighting for freedom & liberty, being too stupid to realise they're actually a bunch of fascists committing an act of treason and domestic terrorism on behalf of a completely corrupt, self-obsessed, emotionally immature, paranoid, pathological liar who doesn't give a crap about them.

Apart from that, happy new year.

To be fair they are being egged on by their commander in chief they probably think they are patriots

Unfortunately, Trump supporters think and believe a lot of things: Pizzagate, QAnon, global warming and Covid 19 are both hoaxes, all mass shootings are faked by the media using crisis actors, etc. Within twenty four hours of the storming of the Capitol, the foaming-mouthed Trump faithful were claiming that those who rampaged through the building weren't Trump supporters at all, but actually socialist Biden voters and Black Lives Matter protesters, cunningly disguised. Which must have come as quite a shock to the right-wing Trump cultists who genuinely did trample through the place, taking selfies and livestreaming as they did so.
